Frankfurt Book Fair

See you in Frankfurt?

by John Pettigrew

I’m hugely excited to be launching Futureproofs officially at Frankfurt in a couple of weeks, to bring publishing teams a real solution to the problems of on-screen proofing. Our competition to find ‘The Fastest Editor in Frankfurt’ celebrates the launch with great prizes!

As our regular readers will know, we’ve been working on our Futureproofs platform for over a year, and we’re really pleased to be able to publicly launch Futureproofs on 8 October 2014 at the Frankfurt Book Fair. We set out last year with the aim of helping publishers to create quality books more cheaply and quickly, and it feels great to have reached the first big milestone on this journey.

If you want to find out more about Futureproofs then you can head over to our website. Right now, though, we want to talk about Frankfurt. We’ll be at the Fair, of course (8–12 October 2014), where we will be demonstrating Futureproofs in Hall 4.0, stand A10 – contact us for an appointment!

More than, though, we’re taking full part in the seminar programme.

  • First, I’m speaking at Contec on Tuesday 7th in a section they’re calling ‘The Rebels of Publishing‘, when I’ll be talking about why I think there’s not enough attention being paid to the tools we use day to day in publishing.
  • The official launch announcement comes at 1:15pm on Wednesday 8th, at our presentation in the Hot Spot Stage in Hall 4.0.
  • Our third session is on the Publishing Perspectives stand in Hall 8 (B170) on Thursday 9th at 3:30pm. In this conversation with Michael Kowalski of Contentment, we will be talking about how we can create publishing tools for real people.

As part of our launch, we are also running a competition on our stand to find “The Fastest Editor In Frankfurt”. The exciting prizes include copies of Judith Butcher’s classic Copy-editing, Michael Bhaskar’s insightful The Content Machine and Michael Dougherty’s Vikings: A Dark History (all prizes kindly donated by their publishers). All comers are invited to try their hands at finding all the issues in the sample page as fast as they can.

So, if you’re going to be at Frankfurt this year, do please drop by stand A10 in Hall 4.0 – we’d love to see you. I hope everyone attending has a great Fair, and that those who are staying at home don’t feel too left out by all the excitement!
